Carl Weathersby's third release on Evidence Records, the aptly titled
Restless Feeling, best captures his talents as player, singer, writer
and interpreter. His fierce, brutally physical guitar attack explodes in
string-busting solos on almost every tune, providing effective contrast to
his heartfelt, passionate vocals. Restless Feeling is a further evolution
of Carls own sound, firmly establishing him in the top echelon of blues
musicians.
In 1997, his second CD, Looking Out My Window (ECD 26089), furthered his growing reputation as a solo recording artist and talented songwriter. The dozen songs on this CD "vividly display Carl's triple strengths as a torrid, rapid-fire guitarist, warm and confident vocalist, and versatile songwriter." His six self-penned songs and his covers of more modern material like John Hiatts Feels Like Rain and Paul deLays Merry Way revealed a contemporary, original bluesman moving the music forward.
His debut CD, Dont Lay Your Blues On Me (ECD 26075) resulted in a W.C. Handy Award nomination for Carl as Best "New" Blues Artist. The CD also received three Living Blues Magazine Critics Award nominations. A review of Don't Lay Your Blues On Me in the online version of Blues Access magazine.
